Toronto employment lawyer, Sarah Vokey, is an associate at Robinson Heeney LLP. Sarah’s legal career has focused exclusively on representing employers and employees in all areas of employment law as well as conducting workplace investigations.
Sarah was drawn to a career in law while working for a pioneering tobacco reduction organization, where she was part of the movement towards smoke-free public places. It was here that she saw first-hand the impact that the law can have on business interests as well as on an individual’s quality of life. She realized that her ability to quickly and accurately assess a situation, her creative problem-solving skills and sound judgment could be used to help both organizations and individuals overcome difficult problems using the law.
Sarah brings a calm, thoughtful and results-oriented approach to complex legal problems, while always considering the overall business strategies and needs of the organization and the values of the people involved. Her ability to clearly communicate legal options and recommendations combined with her pragmatic approach to legal issues translates into skilled advocacy on behalf of her clients through both the settlement process and/or the litigation process.
Sarah provides strategic and practical advice to employer and employee clients in all areas of employment law including: recruitment and hiring, employment contracts, termination of employment, constructive dismissal, policies, human rights issues, harassment, violence, privacy, and employment standards. Sarah is also an experienced workplace investigator who conducts investigations on a variety of employment law issues across all industries.
After obtaining an undergraduate degree at Queen’s University, Sarah studied law at the University of Windsor and was called to the Bar in 2009. Prior to joining Robinson Heeney LLP, Sarah worked at a boutique Toronto employment law firm.
